This course is designed to provide a solid foundation in the basic principles of biochemistry. It is intended to offer an understanding of the basic chemical properties of molecules that make life possible and describe important components of the cell and their biochemical interactions. The students are also introduced to the processes that allow energy to be harvested from sunlight, converted and stored in food molecules and later released to power biochemical reactions within the living cells.
