ESD BECD 2213: EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

This course introduces the student to the concept and background of education for sustainable development.  It explores the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), national aims, goals and objectives of education with emphasis on the objectives of preprimary education and the socio-economic, political, globalization, and environment context.  It also deals with traditional value systems, cultural diversity and utilization of local structures and health in relation to sustainable development.  Other topics to be explored include gender equality, poverty, population growth and energy with environment, and strategies for implementation of sustainable development.
