The course introduces the student to the concept of science; a child’s concept of science; development of science concept – the role of the family, school and society; teaching methods - explanation, discussion, play/discovery, problem solving. It also deals with integration of the lower primary Health and Basic science syllabus; development of materials to be used in Science Educ ation; Integration of Science Education with other learning areas and assessment of children’s performance in Science Education.
