This course will cover the history, characteristics, environmental requirem ents, agronomic practices, distribution, economic importance and process ing of perennial crops in East Africa such as coffee, banana, sugarcane, tea, sisal or others. Pests, diseases and their control will be emphasized. Practical field trips will be organized to farms with perennial crops for students to familiarize themselves with agronomic aspects of these crops.
